FAQ

Who is eligible to participate in your programs?
Our programs are available to children and young adults between the ages of 6 and 18 affected by cancer. We know firsthand that a diagnosis impacts the entire family. We invite children in treatment or who have received treatment for cancer or whose sibling or parent has received a cancer diagnosis to join the We Can Kick It family.

What does it cost for my child to participate?
Nothing! We Can Kick It programs, events, and outings are free for all participants and their families.

What skill level is necessary to participate?
We Can Kick It programs are adapted to suit each participant's skill level and physical ability. To ensure the environment is a healthy experience for your family, we require that a doctor approves your child's participation in our programs. Our team will work with you to address additional health concerns or other issues during the registration process and on the field.

What clothing is appropriate for playing soccer?
We provide each participant with a We Can Kick It dri-fit t-shirt and recommend everyone wear comfortable activewear or sportswear clothing.

Are cleats required?
No. We hold our soccer sessions on Astroturf pitches. While cleats are ideal, regular sneakers will work just fine.

Do you provide refreshments?
We provide a snack box for participants during our 2-hour Saturday Soccer Sessions. Please let us know of any allergy requirements during registration. We request that each participant bring a refillable water bottle with their name on it.

Do you offer 1-on-1 sessions?
Yes! Goal Getters is a one-on-one course designed to build your child's confidence. We pair each participant with a local coach who creates a program around their specific needs and abilities. The Goal Getters' program eligibility is limited to children in treatment or who have received treatment for cancer. Contact us for more information or begin the application process.

Can I opt out of your photo release?
Please let us know if you do not want your child to be photographed, videotaped, or audiotaped. Our registration forms include a media release, as we utilize professional photographers and videographers to capture our programs and events. We use these images, videotapes, and audiotapes to promote our mission and organization.

Can your photographer take a picture of my family?
Yes! We are happy to arrange for our photographer to take photos of your child and family. There is no cost for photos, which we will digitally deliver once they are available.

Can you connect with a family I know who is affected by cancer?
Yes! There are many ways we support families battling cancer. If your child or a child you know is affected by cancer, we are here to help and would love for you to reach out to us.

How can I support We Can Kick It?
There are many ways to support us as an individual or group with your time, talent, and resources. You can volunteer, sponsor an event, provide items from our wishlist, purchase our merch, or host a fundraiser. The most impactful way to help us serve is to donate, which allows us the flexibility to allocate funds to the programs and people that need them most.
